I had the honour of documenting Phil and Sophie's wedding last month along with my talented second-shooter, Michael. The wedding ceremony was held at the Our Lady Airways Chapel, followed by the wedding reception at the gorgeous Royal Canadian Air Force Officers' Mess Hall in downtown Ottawa.
In lieu of their engagement shoot, Sophie and Phil invited me to attend their family BBQ the evening before the wedding instead. Having met their family and friends, I can see why Sophie and Phil are easily one of the nicest couples I've had the pleasure to photograph this wedding season. They are surrounded by family and friends who love and adore them deeply. Their whole wedding weekend, starting with the BBQ, the church wedding, reception and the brunch the next day were reflections of that. During the reception, I was particularly touched, as I am sure many were, by the video message filmed by Phil's grandparents, who were not able to travel from Germany to attend the wedding.
