How would you describe your photography style?
I embrace dramatic lighting, dynamic shadows, and active movements. These are the three core qualities that define my wedding photography work. My modern style is a contrast to the light and airy photos that are typically produced by other wedding photographers. To achieve the look of my photos, I like to photograph my couples in and surrounded by nature. Forests and trees create the best lighting and hills, and cliffs can give us height! For family portraits and wedding details (rings, bouquets, shoes, etc), I combine traditional composition and poses to my artistic style to ensure that your photos remain timeless. That said, I know photographs of candid moments and raw emotions are among the most treasured photos of my couples. Not to worry, I enjoy taking these pictures just as much as – we will document everything including Uncle Joe doing the Macarena on the dance floor!
Do you take detail photos and traditional family portraits?
Absolutely! I am drawn to photos that showcase my couple's intimate moments, which is why they are displayed so prominently on my website. However, I also recognize that family portraits can be among the most treasured photos of my couples! I will advise you on the best time and location concerning your itinerary, as well as being fully involved in making everyone feel comfortable and at ease during the portrait time.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR WORKING STYLE?
I firmly believe that a happy and comfortable bride and groom make for the best wedding photos. So, know that the moment you sign me on as your photographer, I will be there as your biggest advocate. I want you to look at your wedding photos however many years from now and remember nothing but fun and happy memories. This, of course, means making sure that you receive excellent service before, during and after your special day.
WHAT KIND OF CLIENTS am I IDEAL FOR?
I am perfect for brides and groom who really care about photography.
A quick story: when my parents got married, it was a very low-key, informal wedding. They were surrounded by a few friends and family, but they did not have a wedding photographer - or anyone with a camera for that matter! They are now in their 30th year of marriage and they've had many photos together taken since then, but none from that special day on which so much of their lives, including mine, began.
DO YOU DO ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS?
All wedding collections include engagement sessions. I highly recommend it for us to get to know each other before your big day. You can read the benefits of the engagement sessions here!
HOW MUCH COVERAGE DO YOU RECOMMEND?
I want to tell your whole story and not just parts of its. Ideally, I recommend a coverage for the entire day to capture every single moment. At the very minimum, I recommend at least one hour at the tail-end of the bride and groom getting ready, and at least one hour into the dance party to have a cohesive and full set of memories to tell the story of your big day! Having a second photographer in all but one of our packages ensures that do not miss a single moment!
HOW MANY PICTURE WILL WE RECEIVE?
The number of photos you receive will depend on the package you choose. On average, most weddings receive 250 to 500 edited images. I always say that the more things are happening, the more photos you will receive!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?
It depends on the season. During the winter months, I usually have the photos ready within two weeks. During peak season, spring and summer, I deliver photos within three weeks through an online gallery where you can download the images directly and share them with friends and family or through a custom USB.
HOW WILL WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?
You get the option of getting your photos delivered via a secured digital gallery in our client portal where you can download the images directly to your computer and share them with friends and family right away, or you can receive them via mail or pick-up in a custom USB.
WHAT IS THE CLIENT PORTAL?
The client portal is a secure client page that contains every piece of information I have about your wedding. You will recieve a login upon booking, and in the client portal, you will find the signed copy of your contract; wedding day itineraries, questionnaires, and engagement session recommendations. After your wedding, the portal will also have your private online gallery where you can download your images or order prints and albums! The client portal ensures that we are all on the same page and that there is a constant stream of communication in the year or months leading up to your wedding day!
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO YOU BOOK?
Weddings typically book a year in advance, though it does vary. If you want a particular season or date, make sure to book in advance, so you are not left disappointed!
What is the purpose of the consultation?
It is important to get to know your photographer and it is important for me to get to know you too. At the consultation, I will answer all
your questions, but also make sure that we are the right fit for each other and share the same vision for your wedding day coverage.
Can or should you book at consultation?
While booking at the time of consultation is not required, you will be offered the opportunity as many clients do prefer to book at consultation in order to secure their date. The choice is up to you; I strive to create a no-pressure environment, but I do kindly remind my couples that I cannot formally hold your date without a signed contract and retainer placed.
WHAT IS THE DEPOSIT AMOUNT?
A deposit of 30% is required at the time of signing your contract.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED AND ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL?
I am located in Ottawa, Ontario. Yes, I am also willing to travel!
What kind of equipment do you use and do you have backup equipment?
I shoot exclusively with Nikon professional gear, including full-frame bodies, fast primes, professional zooms and a variety of lighting equipment both on and off camera. Because weddings are once in a lifetime events, I do not want to miss a single second of it. So, I have a backup for everything: camera bodies, lenses, memory cards, batteries, flashes, lighting accessories, you name it – I have it covered, protected by our trusty and hard Pelican case.
I LIKE EVERYTHING I SEE, HOW DO I BOOK?
Awesome! You can fill send me an email through the contact form. Tell me a little bit about yourselves and your wedding day! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask at all.
